PASTOR'S WELCOME

Thank you for visiting our web site. We are pleased that you have taken the time to be introduced to GRACE BIBLE INDEPENDENT BAPTIST CHURCH of Shinglehouse, Pennsylvania.

The ministry of Grace Bible Independent Baptist Church is that of a fundamental local New Testament Church based upon the Holy Scriptures. Our name is a good way to introduce this ministry. God's GRACE is the basis of our relationship with Himself. Ephesians 2:8,9 reads, "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."  This grace of God for salvation and a personal relationship with God is our only hope for eternity. The BIBLE is source of all that is taught at the church. It is not the ideas of men, even godly men, that are important, what does God's Word teach us. God has revealed to mankind all that is needed for him to live pleasing in His sight and pleasing God is all that matters and matter it does!  "The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever." Psalm 12:6,7. INDEPENDENT identifies that we are not part of a denomination. All leadership is present in the congregation. All decisions about this church are made within the membership of the congregation. GBIBC is a non-affiliated local church.  We do not oppose the existence of various associations and fellowships but are not a member of any. BAPTIST identifies our historic attachment. We identify with the traditional conservative faith and practice of Baptist churchesThe CHURCH is God's ordained living institution through which He does His work on the earth. The church is made up of born-again individuals who have been baptized in a biblical manner, by immersion since salvation. This family of God is made up of men, women, boys and girls who have been redeemed by the blood of Christ. Though being a faithful  church member is not required for entrance to heaven it must be understood that the local church is not optional for a Christian to be obedient in their walk with God.  I Timothy 3:15 declares the importance of the local church, "But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth."

The theme for 2012 is GOD IS FAITHUL and based on Psalm 89:1, "I will sing of the mercies of the LORD for ever: with my mouth will I make known Thy faithfulness to all generations."  As the believer goes through his or her daily life there are many evidences of God being faithful. Having an intimate walk with Christ (Philippians 3:7-14), this walk/way of living is available to all Christians and enables the believer to see God working on their behalf (Philippians 2:13-16.) The Christian, who can depend on God Jehovah for eternal salvation, can also depend on Him for guidance in daily living experiences. The Bible is the infallible guide through which God works to direct us.
